Mary Frances Rodriguez’s appreciation of color and design began early in life as her mother was an art instructor and accomplished artist. It was with tough love that Mary Frances was not allowed to use coloring books as a child but instead was told, “You are perfectly capable of creating your own designs”. As it turns out, her mother was right and Mary Frances later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Fine Art, at the University of Mobile in Alabama. She continued her education in the liberal arts program at Springhill College, also in Mobile, where she uncovered a passion for rug design and still designs rugs on a commissioned basis having them woven in Nepal or India. Mary Frances also has an art studio on Oak Island where she hosts numerous arts and crafts classes.
