21st Annual Arts and Crafts Festival Vender Application

We need some help please!
The Arts and Crafts Festival is fast approaching! To date we have more than 100 vendors signed on and the list grows each week!
This year, the event should be even better as we voted to add a tent for those interested in doing plein air as well as to keep the open space so that easels could be set up with art work. Both of those are designed to attract more visitors to our tent and our organization!
Please consider bringing your work to display and/or doing plein air painting during the festival (September 4) To get a better idea of space allocations, please get back to me by return e-mail if you plan to do either display or paint or if you choose NOT to participate. We want to accommodate all who would like to participate and want to hear from everyone.
We also need volunteers for the following tasks to make the day the complete success we hope it to be:
1. A member to run our raffle. All OIAG members are asked to provide a piece of artwork to be raffle off later on the day of the fair, the proceeds will benefit our scholarship fund and the art supplies project for schools.
We have the raffle tickets and signs but, we need some people to make sure buyers make out their tickets and put them in our raffle jar. Also we need people to bring ticket buyers into the tent like "barkers" at a carnival. It's a gas, a lot of fun.
2. Our OIAG tent serves many purposes; one is as a no cost water and coffee station for our vendors; kind of a hospitality thing.
We need a member, two or three even, who would be in charge of this hospitality. Volunteering would have the responsibility of buying both coffee, bottled water and condiments (of course you would be reimbursed by the guild). as well as setting up a provided table: making coffee, provide cups, napkins, creamer, sugar on the table, Also get ice for the chest (one block away) that holds the water bottles.
3. We need folks willing to stick around, take down the screens and walk the grounds to make sure we leave no trash. We always have a good time doing it.
Any questions you may have just me, Allie at: 253-4209, Richard Staat at: 201-4090 or Don Rose 278-3553.
Thank you in advance for considering each of these really fun opportunties. Together we can have a good time and make it a great event and not a burden to anyone!

Review of our 2009 OIAG Arts and Crafts Fair
Date: September 8, 2009 4:43:06 PM EDT
From: Dick Staat OIAG Arts and Crafts Festival DirectorThe 20th Annual Arts & Crafts Festival was a huge success. Mild temperature and a light sea breeze brought an estimated 10,000 people to the OI Soccer Field to view the art and craft of 112 vendors. Two 15x15 tents made a great outdoor gallery for the paintings of OIAG members. Jan Boland was the chairperson for the OIAG festival tents. Jan did a terrific job of organizing tent sitters and making all the arrangements necessary for a very successful day. Over $200 alone was taken in for raffle sales thanks to our master hawker Jack Anderson. Joyce Grazetti Our "Crafts Cop" and her deputy JoAnn Staat found only few vendors who didn't comply with the 'hand made' requirement.A great deal of work went into making this years festival a success. Don Rose and his little silver truck hauled all the screens for the tent gallery. Don also worked for two half days staking out the soccer field in 4 vendor units called quads. Other members of that stake out crew were: Roger Tatum, Jim McIntosh, Allie and Bruce Lull. Great job!Prior to that signs were put up in strategic spots around the area by Jan and Joe Boland. Don Rose helped stake the large banners which helped to advertise our events. Jan organized a band of great tent sitters: Roger Tatum, Allie Lull, Pat Pavco, Jeannie Edens, Linda drye, Jack Anderson, Nancy Eaton and of course Rooster. Mary Carter and her husband, Nancy Eaton and Allie Lull helped with the cleanup at the end of the day. The field was spotless! It's important that OIAG be a good steward for this event else the town won't let us come back next year.A few problems did arise along the way. 46th street was closed; a banner blew down; the two borrowed OIAG tents were vandalized and a port-0-potty was tipped over. Don Rose was able to fix the damage to the tents and the town was notified about the toilet. All in all the 20th annual OIAG Arts and Crafts Festival was great and we received compliments galore from the vendors. A poll was taken from the vendors to see if they would like a 2 day event in 2010. Most thought it would be a good idea. This is something to discuss later.Again, thanks to everyone who got involved in this fun event. Dick
